New BMW i4 Announced at Paris Auto Show

This October at the Paris Motor Show, BMW made an exciting announcement: a new electric vehicle will be released in 2021. It called the new vehicle the BMW i4, adding another model to BMW’s prestigious i Division line. The i Division features state-of-the-art electric vehicle technology cased in sophisticated BMW designs.

BMW hasn’t unveiled any formal details about the i4, but industry experts assume that it will be either a sedan or coupe. Harald Krüger, who is Chairman of the Board of Management for BMW, promised that the i4 will be light, dynamic, and easily handled on the road. It will also feature cutting-edge connectivity technology, making the vehicle distinctly modern and forward-thinking.

The i4 is not the only electric vehicle from BMW that it will release in the coming years. BMW has also unveiled plans for a MINI EV, an iX3 electric crossover, and more. The automaker intends to offer 25 plug-in hybrid electric vehicles in its lineup by 2025, showing that innovative electric vehicle technologies are central to the brand’s future.

Although known for their futuristic aesthetic, BMW announced that its EVs going forward will be more conventionally designed, focusing on driving dynamics rather than unusual design. However, BMW is virtually incapable of doing anything boring, so we’re sure its EV cars will still continue to lead the industry in terms of sophisticated, modern design.

We are excited about BMW’s strides into electrification. If you want to learn more or test-drive an electric BMW yourself, come to BMW of Fort Wayne.

How to Prepare Your Luxury Car for Winter

As the weather slowly gets colder and the days grow shorter, winter is on its way. Winter puts its own particular stresses on your vehicle, so you will want to prepare accordingly beforehand to keep your luxury car performing and looking in tip-top shape throughout the cold months. Here are some tips on how to prepare your luxury car for winter, making sure your confidence and spirits remain high until springtime.

  • Service your vehicle: Routine maintenance is the best thing you can do to keep your luxury vehicle running well. Before winter, service your vehicle and have all the major systems checked. You will particularly want to check your battery, tires, and heating system, and perhaps consider opting for cold weather motor oil during your next oil change.
  • Protect your vehicle’s exterior and interior: There are a few simple steps you can take to protect your vehicle’s exterior and interior from winter weather and road salt. Firstly, you can consider applying a paint sealant or waxing your car’s exterior to protect it from whatever weather or ice comes its way. You can also invest in some all-weather floor mats to protect your vehicle’s floor and carpet from road salt and stains.
  • Have a winter emergency kit and plan: If your car breaks down or you get stuck in the snow, it’s a good idea to have a winter emergency kit on hand and a plan in place. Your kit should include additional warm clothing or blankets, a scraper, a small shovel, de-icer spray, and snow grips for your shoes. You will also want to have a charging cable for your smartphone, so you can keep it charged up should you need to call to get the help you need.

If you need any help with your vehicle or would like a new one before winter completely sets in, make sure to visit BMW of Fort Wayne. Our friendly staff would be more than happy to assist you.

BMW To Debut M Performance Models of Crossover Lineup

BMW has already extended its performance-ready sports-car engineering to the X5 SAV, which got a major power boost in the form of an M performance variant. Now, two other nameplates in the BMW crossover lineup are getting M performance models. BMW revealed special X3 and X4 models at the Nurburgring with some brand new specs, signaling that M models are on the way.

On the subject of the power of the new performance crossovers, BMW M president Frank van Meel said in a press release, “The BMW X3 M and the BMW X4 M will set benchmarks in terms of dynamics in their respective vehicle segment.”

As of right now, there’s no word on specific numbers when it comes to the X3 M and X4 M’s respective powertrains, but the two vehicles will be sharing both a platform and a brand-new turbocharged inline-six engine.

However, we can make a guess. The X3 M does have a comparable sedan model that is already out, the M3. Its powertrain generates 425 horsepower, so The Drive guessed that the M Performance models of the BMW X3 and X4 will have similar specs. BMW promised more information on the vehicles will come out in the first quarter of 2019, including the possibility of a launch date.

Here at BMW of Fort Wayne, we can hardly wait. If you can’t wait either, you can come and have a look at the current M performance lineup today.
