As if performance car fans didn’t already have plenty to be excited about with the announcement of the new 2019 BMW M2 Competition Coupe, BMW Blog is now speculating that a track-ready racing version of the M2 Competition is on the way. While we’re still waiting on a lot of specific details, a new BMW M2 racer would make 2019 an incredible year for BMW fans of all sorts.
The forthcoming 2019 BMW M2 Competition Coupe is itself a powerfully inspiring, undeniably stunning performance car, packing 405 horsepower thanks to an advanced twin turbocharging system and next-generation drivetrain engineering. With 0-60 mph acceleration in just 4.0 seconds, the 2019 BMW M2 Competition Coupe will be anything but a slouch on the track.
The rumored BMW M2 racer, however, would take things even further. BMW Blog is guessing that the M division at BMW might even fine-tune the 3.0-liter twin-turbo engine to around 470 horsepower, a substantial increase from the road variant.
Additionally, the racing version would probably sport a stripped out interior, adjustable suspension, more aerodynamic construction, and enhanced brake components for handling the stress of circuit racing. If the new BMW M2 racer does roll out soon, it would likely replace the existing M240i Racing Cup.
